An overview of her life
Benedictine and mystic writer; born in
Germany, 6 Jan., 1256; died at Helfta, near
Eisleben, Saxony, 17 November, 1301 or
1302. Nothing is known of her family, not
even the name of her parents. It is clear
from her life (Legatus, lib. I, xvi) that she
was not born in the neighbourhood of
Eisleben. When she was but five years of
age she entered the alumnate of Helfta.
The monsastery was at that time governed
by the saintly and enlightened Abess
Gertrude of Hackerborn, under whose
rule it prospered exceedingly, both in
monastic observance and in that
intellectual activity .....
The Life And Revelations of
St. Gertrude The Great, 545 pgs.
The Revelations of St. Gertrude the Great forms
one of the classics of Catholic writing.
This book is one of the great books about the
Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is the story of the life
of St. Gertrude the Great - the title alone tells
much - and how Jesus revealed Himself to her,
His great love for her and for each and every
soul, His burning desire for the salvation of
souls, His sorrow and even agony at the loss of
souls, and finally, His great call for penance,
prayers and acts of reparations. He asks us to
cooperate by acts of reparation and prayers for
the conversion and salvation of souls. And by
the acts of reparation for Him and the souls we
can soothen the sorrow and the pain that our
sins cause Him. Reparation is explained in the
book. It is something that anyone can do, and
does not require much time .....
Prayers of St. Gertrude The Great

give many prayers to praise the Lord and pray for
the benifite of souls and the reperations of sins.
One of the most famous prayers of St. Gertrude

She was also known for her Devotion to the
Sacred Heart of Jesus .....
